Boxing glove size guide: 

10oz: Primarily used for professional bouts. Can also be used as "bag gloves" for pad and heavy bag work. Should not be used for sparring. 

12oz: Generally used for pad and heavy bag training. Can be used for light sparring, but not for hard punches to the head. Suitable for smaller youths and women. 14oz: Used by most adults weighing between 50–85 kg for free sparring. The heavier the glove, the more padding it contains. It is important to use at least 

14oz gloves for free sparring, for the safety of both yourself and your sparring partner. 

16oz: Used for free sparring by larger men and heavy hitters. Most clubs strongly recommend 16oz gloves for hard sparring involving punches to the head. Keep in mind that, just like shoes, boxing gloves stretch and mold to your hands over time. It is best if they fit snugly when you first buy them. A helpful tip is to wrap your hands using boxing hand wraps to prevent hand injuries.
