Turekesterone is an ecdysteroid that occurs naturally in the Maralroot plant. Ecdysteroids can be compared to male sex hormones, but with the crucial difference that they do not bind to androgen receptors, and therefore cannot cause any of the side effects that this gives, but still stimulate several muscle-building processes in the body. Of the ecdysteroids known, it is turkesterone that has the highest effect. 

Turkesterone also increases protein synthesis and supports the muscle cells' uptake of the amino acid L-Leucine, which provides increased conditions for building muscle. 

For the best effect, a dose of 500mg per day seems to be sufficient and using turkesterone in cycles of 8-12 weeks has proven effective, although the product has no known side effects with longer use.
